Summer Softball, welcome to the big league!

Between writing on my other blog and planning the reception, this little baby blog hasn't gotten much attention. I'll be better soon! Tonight is Matt's first softball game of the summer. He played last year too. But this year he's on a new team, in the high loop (fancy talk for alot more interesting games and more competitive players!)

I don't know if this is generally how Men's softball leagues are but this group in T-town prefers stupid names. Last year, he played for the Moose Knuckles. Look it up, I don't wanna explain. This year...the MotorBoaters. And every time they say it they laugh like 12 year old boys who just said a fart joke. Honestly, who would name their team that?! You can pretty much guarantee I won't be cheering for the team name. GO TEAM!!

Here's to softball in 90 degree weather! whoo-hoo!

Reception Time, Let's Party!

The fun thing about the way we did our wedding is we get to keep the celebration going! Now we are hot and heavy in the middle of planning our reception! Decorations, Tables, Menus, Song Lists! Whew, that last one was hard to. Which songs will be perfect for what?!?! The part I love planning the most (besides pretty much all of it)--decorating. Does that surprise anyone!?!

This weekend we'll finalize the decor and everything. I've got it pretty much thought out in my mind and have started working on some stuff. We are going to have couple awesome things! *lips sealed* You'll have to wait and see! But here's some decorations I've been working on:
of course still the pinks, and spring green like the ceremony!
So this post wasn't as "cool" as it was supposed to be since I decided 1/2 way through not to share all my ideas. I'll share "how to" later, like after the ceremony!
Other exciting news this week: our wedding video is in the mail! In case you didn't see the highlight video, here it is again (can you tell I'm excited!):

Makeup, Jewelry, Dresses, Hair, oh my!

So I haven't been great about blogging about the wedding. I do apologize. We are settling into married life and getting used to each other, along with organizing 2 apartments worth of stuff, AND planning a reception! (Send in your RSVP!!) Still, that is NO excuse! So here are some articles that I wrote for my fashion blog about my own and my bridesmais hair, makeup, jewelry, and dresses. We've gotten our proofs and are picking out our professional pictures and I will share those once we are done, enjoy so far!

THE DRESSES AND JEWELRY:

I think every little girl dreams of the day she gets married starting around the age 3. Its encouraged and though of as cute. This includes visions of big dresses, long trains, flowy veils, and lots and lots of tulle, bridesmaids in colors all matchy. I was no exception. I was into drawing around 12 and designed my own dress back then. It was quite elaborate with rhinestones, low cut backs, and pretty flowy fabric. But what it definitely was NOT was a big puffy tulle dress that would make me look like I belonged on the top of the wedding cake or my bridesmaids look like 80’s prom queens. Well, fast forward 11 or so years, time to plan my wedding!

It was a small intimate wedding with family, close friends, and bridal party and of course outstanding fashion!

Bridesmaids:

Bridesmaid dresses are one of the hardest things about wedding planning to me.

Do you want them to match? Will they all look good in the same thing? What color would be best? Could they wear it again?

Being a bridesmaid isn’t just showing up in a pretty dress and walking down an aisle. You have to buy the dress, shoes, jewelry, pampering, gifts, and possibly throw showers. That stuff usually ain’t cheap. 5 years ago, I decided my girls were going to wear black (so they could wear the dress again). I wanted them to find a little black dress that fit them-their personality, their taste, their body, and their comfort level. Also one that wouldn’t break their bank--I left it up to them to chose how much they wanted to spend on their dress and shoes.

I only had 3 requirements for the whole ensemble:

  • Black heels (open toed/strappy)
  • above/at knee length dress.
  • Satin sheen fabric

And I secretly hoped they would all choose different necklines, and they DID!

Four girls, for different necklines: one shouldered (asymmetric), strapless, scoop neck, and off-the-shoulder (portrait).

They had different shoes and different dresses. I gave them each vintage rhinestone earrings to top off the whole ensemble. They all looked the same but individual. They were the best looking bridesmaids I’ve ever seen. (though I might be partial)

Bride’s Dress: When we went to look for wedding dresses, I tried on about 25 or more. And, as cliché as it is, my dress chose me! This one was one of the last I tried on and it was perfect. I didn’t feel like a wedding cake topper! It wasn’t tulley, it wasn’t a poufy, It was totally me!

It is a SCALA Destination Dress in cream, with beautiful beading on the neckline, bottom, and back.

It has a sheer overlay making it appear strapless and a deep sheer back. It had a slight train that was just the perfect length. I found my shoes at David’s Bridal Online Boutique. They were a 4 in heel in cream with a bow and rhinestone clasp in the center. My earrings were vintage leaf earrings and my bracelet was borrowed from my mom that looked vintage. I felt like I stepped out of the 1920’s!

The bridesmaids black dresses and my cream jeweled dress tied together the “traditional with vintage touches” wedding. It couldn’t have been more special.

The dresses/jewelry were all I could fit in today! Hair/Makeup next!

Mr. and Mrs. T welcome you!

Welcome to the new blog! =D Couldn’t very well keep the old one since it was the “future” and now I’m Mrs. T!!! YAY! Yippiee! Wahoo!! There’s so much to tell! 1st-Sorry, its taken so long. As soon as we got home from the honeymoon, we had to move Matt’s stuff out of his old apt and sort through everything. Then, our internet went out. But we’ve got it sorted, combined, and up and running!

2nd, the wedding was amazing! It’s the best wedding I’ve ever been to! 2 of my Aunts got to come and help set up. The bridesmaids also got to help set up. The stage was beautiful with colorful flowers against a white background (Thank you Cathy and Jan!!!).Rehearsal went brilliantly (Thank you Edith)! Followed by a wonderful rehearsal dinner with good food and splendid company(Thank you Gwen & Adam)! It was great to visit with family! Saturday morning was peaceful/chaotic. Then at 1, the weather was perfect, birds were chirping, people were seated. And it was the best moment of my life. We have gotten pictures slowly but surely and my next post will include the set up and rehearsal, then the wedding, then the Bahamas. Don’t give up on me! There is just SO much to tell! Can’t wait to share! I’ll least give you this picture, its as we were finishing the professional wedding pictures.
